A Modernized Platform Foundation
EDM 7.0 introduces major upgrades to the technology stack that powers the platform:
- Java 21 runtime for improved performance and long-term support
- Wildfly 37.0.1 as the application server foundation
- PostgreSQL 18.1 for new installations using the 1-click installer
- Updated third-party libraries to strengthen security and processing capabilities
Together, these enhancements ensure EDM remains aligned with enterprise IT standards while delivering the reliability Sightline customers depend on.
Stronger Security Architecture with Elytron
Security remains a top priority in EDM 7.0.
With the Wildfly and Hibernate upgrades, EDM now takes advantage of the Elytron security module, enabling more secure credential handling across the platform. Database and scheduling credentials are stored in encrypted credential stores rather than plaintext configuration files, strengthening protection for sensitive system information.
Additional security-related improvements include:
- Continued transition from SOAP APIs to REST APIs
- More flexible user management, including removing the requirement for email addresses when creating accounts and enhanced support for SCIM APIs
- Centralized sender email configuration for alerts and scheduled reports
These changes reflect Sightline’s long-term commitment to enterprise-grade security and modern integration standards.
Better Reporting Performance and Scheduling
EDM 7.0 improves the way scheduled reports and dashboards are generated especially in large or data-heavy environments.
With Playwright in place of PhantomJS, EDM 7.0 produces PDF reports and dashboards faster and more reliably. This upgrade helps ensure reporting workflows remain dependable as data volumes grow.
Enhancements to Identity and API Integration
EDM 7.0 also expands support for modern identity management and automation workflows:
- Enhanced SCIM API support improves integration with ADFS-based environments and centralized identity systems
- Additional REST-based replacements for legacy SOAP calls streamline programmatic access to EDM data and administration
These updates make it easier for IT teams to integrate EDM into existing enterprise identity and automation frameworks.

Visual Improvements for Dark Mode
Small details matter when teams spend hours in monitoring dashboards.
EDM 7.0 includes refinements to dark mode rendering, correcting visibility issues and improving readability across charts, text, and interface elements for a cleaner day-to-day user experience.
Simplified Upgrades with 1-Click Installation
EDM 7.0 continues Sightline’s focus on making platform upgrades predictable and straightforward.
Customers running EDM 6.0.0 or later can take advantage of Sightline’s 1-click installer, which streamlines the upgrade process and automatically handles key platform components as part of the installation.
As always, detailed technical guidance is available in the full release documentation, and Sightline’s support team is ready to work with you to plan and execute a smooth upgrade.
Advancing Sightline’s Mission
EDM 7.0 reinforces Sightline’s mission to deliver dependable, secure, and forward-looking operational intelligence platforms. Whether your team relies on EDM for anomaly detection, performance analytics, system health monitoring, or enterprise reporting, this release ensures the underlying technology continues to evolve alongside your business.
